What are the Causes of Cellulite? That is probably the question most often asked when individuals are researching cellulite. Cellulite is not a medical term and it is not a medical condition. It is simply fatty tissue that gets caught between layers of connective tissue. The tissue hardens which causes the lumps or dimples that are associated with Cellulite. While cellulite was originally thought to be linked with obesity, this has since been disproven, for skinny people have cellulite too. In all reality, there are a number of Causes of Cellulite, some that we can control and some that we can’t.
The biggest Cause of Cellulite is genetics (so thank your parents). About 90% of the female population currently has, or will develop, cellulite and genetics is the main reason why. While more often than not we are genetically predisposed to cellulite, there are other Causes of Cellulite in existence. Some of these causes include: insufficient water intake, poor diet, large toxin intake, lack of exercise, smoking, tension and stress and certain medication. If you are not genetically predisposed to cellulite, then mediating these causes will help you to live a cellulite free life.
The two most important Causes of Cellulite on the list, besides heredity, are diet and exercise. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercising on a regular basis are two habits that can greatly increase your chances of living cellulite free. Cellulite most often builds up because of toxins entering the body (from unhealthy foods) and from stagnant individuals (non-exercising). Diet and exercise are key to a cellulite free life.
